Making Sense Out Of Nonsense

Good evening family and friends. I pray this post will find you prospering spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically

(3 John:2).

If you know me at all you know I embrace vulnerability and openness especially about my testimony and life experiences...all with the intent of helping others. It ain’t never been no “shame in my game” all to the glory of God!

Recently with all that’s going on in the world I’ve felt a “slow leak” in my soul.

By that I mean I started to lose my joy. I stayed on my square with prayer, bible reading, church attendance and ministry, even encouraging others but the constant bombardment of news about the pandemic, political divisiveness, social unrest, racism, police brutality, lock downs and personal issues was like a nail in a tire. Combined they caused me to start losing air in my spirit.

Maybe you can relate.

Worry about issues we can’t control can cause stress that leads to unresolved anger, depression and bitterness. That threesome can actually weaken our immune systems leaving us more susceptible to Covid-19, high blood pressure, diabetes and an assortment of other physical ailments.

I decided I ain’t going out like that! God helped me to make sense of the nonsense that’s going on (Habakkuk 2:4-20).

If right now you’re struggling with unresolved anger, depression or bitterness please allow me to share some spiritual strategies that helped me.

1.) Don’t suffer alone, seek prayer and counseling (James 5:13-16; Proverbs 11:14; 24:6).

2.) Ask Holy Spirit to help you root out all bitterness from your heart. Some of it may be residual bitterness from years past...let it go because it not only defiles you but it defiles all those in your circle of influence (Hebrews 12:15; Psalm 139:24,25).

3.) Guard you heart like a junk yard dog. Get your truth from God’s Word not Fox News, CNN, SocialMedia or some conspiracy theorist. Distance yourself from people peddling hate and division, don’t buy it (Proverbs 4:20-23).

4.) Find activities you can control to make a positive change in this world like voting, volunteering, praying and offering a comforting word to someone suffering (1 Corinthians 1:3-5).

5.) Finally realize and know that you know that you know, GOD IS SOVEREIGN and it’s all working for our good (Romans 8:28; James 2:14-17).

Since Since March after the murder of George Floyd and the chaos caused by Covid-19 I’ve written 21 blog posts because writing helps me process my feelings and also gives me an opportunity to help someone else. Thanks so much for taking time to read this latest blog.

If God leads you be sure to leave a donation to help us in our work to empower fathers, curb recidivism and connect people back to their faith, family and community.

Blessings!
